Destin is famous for sugar-white sand and emerald water—but its bar scene gives the beach serious competition. Whether you want toes in the sand, a rooftop perch over the harbor, or an afternoon stool with a cold draft, Destin delivers. Here's where to drink it all in.

HarborWalk Village: Destin's Bar Row
HarborWalk Village is the undisputed center of Destin's nightlife—a quarter-mile boardwalk lined with open-air bars, live music stages, and views of the largest charter-fishing fleet on the Gulf. The heavy hitters:
- AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar—Destin's most iconic waterfront bar. Three decks, nightly live music, frozen drinks the size of your head, and the best seat to watch the charter boats return at sunset.
- Boathouse Oyster Bar—No-frills, cash-only, and beloved for ice-cold beer and Gulf oysters. The vibe is local, the prices are honest, and there's often a bluegrass set in the corner.
- Lucky Snapper Grill & Bar—Casual tiki-bar energy with a full menu of Gulf-fresh seafood. Good spot to land after a morning on the water.
Pro tip: arrive by 3 pm on weekends to claim a waterfront table before the post-beach crowd arrives.

LuLu's Destin: Sand on the Floor, Fun in the Air
Founded by Lucy Buffett (yes, Jimmy's sister), LuLu's is part beach bar, part carnival, part restaurant. The signature detail: real sand on the floor. Kids can hit the climbing wall and zip line while the adults work through the frozen margarita menu. LuLu's is massive, family-friendly until evening, and consistently one of the most fun places to spend an afternoon in Destin.
Must-order: the Cheeseburger in Paradise (obviously) and the Bushwacker frozen cocktail.

Best Happy Hours in Destin
Happy hour in Destin runs roughly 3–6 pm at most spots. A few standouts:
- Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House—Half-price oysters and discounted cocktails on their bayou-side deck. Fewer tourists than HarborWalk, and the sunset is equally spectacular.
- McGuire's Irish Pub (Fort Walton Beach)—A 15-minute drive east but worth it for the Senate Bean Soup, house-brewed beers, and wall-to-wall dollar bills on the ceiling.
- Crab Island via pontoon—Not a bar per se, but floating vendors sell frozen cocktails directly to your boat all day. Rent a pontoon, anchor up, and let the drinks come to you.

Miramar Beach: Beachside Sips Near the Rentals
Staying in Miramar Beach? You're close to a different set of beach bars—quieter than HarborWalk, more directly on the Gulf:
- Sandbar at the Henderson Beach Resort—Upscale poolside bar steps from the Gulf. Open to non-guests; the craft cocktails and charcuterie boards are worth the splurge.
- Capt. Dave's on the Gulf—Casual waterfront spot on Scenic Gulf Drive with a deck that's practically in the waves at high tide.
- The Whale's Tail—Laid-back beach-shack energy at Pompano Joe's Oceanfront Grille. Grab a bucket of beer and watch the parasailers.
Both our Miramar Beach and Destin rentals are within a short drive of these spots.

Practical Tips: Parking, Timing, and What to Order
- Parking at HarborWalk: The Harbor Blvd. pay garage fills by 5 pm on summer weekends. Come before 3 pm or take the Destin Water Bus from Crab Island.
- Best nights: Thursday through Saturday in June–August is peak energy. Weekdays offer a mellower crowd and often the same live music at half the wait.
- What to order: A frozen bushwacker at LuLu's, half-shell oysters at Boathouse, and a sunset frozen cocktail at AJ's with a view of the harbor. That's your Destin bar trifecta.
- Dress code: Casual beach attire works everywhere. Some resort bars ask for shoes; most places on HarborWalk are flip-flop friendly all night.
- Getting back safely: Rideshare is abundant in Destin in summer. Most HarborWalk bars are a short Uber from either of our vacation rentals.
