Every year on the Saturday before the Fourth of July, Grayton Beach erupts with one of 30A's most cherished coastal traditions. The Rags to Riches Regatta launches a fleet of 16-foot beach catamarans skimming across Western Lake and out to the Gulf, creating a spectacular display of colorful sails against emerald water that is entirely unique to this stretch of the Panhandle.

Now in its 29th year, this beloved event draws competitive sailors and thousands of enthusiastic spectators to the sugar-white sands. Whether you're racing your own rig or cheering from the shore with a cold drink in hand, the infectious energy and deep community spirit make this one of the summer's most memorable afternoons. Entry is $45 per boat, and all proceeds benefit the South Walton Artificial Reef Association — helping protect the very waters these sailors race across.

Grayton Beach State Park is consistently ranked among Florida's most beautiful state parks, so arrive early, stake out a prime stretch of sand, and make a full beach day of it. With Fourth of July weekend arriving just days later, the festive atmosphere is absolutely irresistible.
