About this event

There is nothing quite like Pensacola Winterfest — a one-of-a-kind holiday tradition that turns Downtown Pensacola into an immersive theatrical playground every winter. Centered at Plaza Wonderland at the corner of Government Street and Palafox Place, Winterfest combines the magic of holiday storytelling with the genuine charm of Florida's historic first city, creating memories that families return for year after year. The 2026 season runs November 20 through Christmas Eve, with performances on select dates throughout the season.

The crown jewel is the Polar Express Tour, which begins with a spirited musical show on the historic courthouse steps, where tap-dancing servers present every guest with a warm cup of hot cocoa — then the conductor invites everyone aboard an open-air tram for a 20-minute journey through twinkling lights and holiday magic. Equally beloved is the Grinch's Merry Match — a fast and funny interactive romp through Whoville where even the Grinch's heart grows three sizes by the end. And for those who want timeless holiday theater, A Christmas Carol returns for a special engagement during Christmas week. Photos with Santa and holiday characters round out the experience at Plaza Wonderland.

First performances begin at 5pm on Friday evenings and 4:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays. With Downtown Pensacola lit by over half a million white lights throughout the First City Lights Festival season, Winterfest is the highlight event of what becomes a truly magical stretch of weeks along Palafox Street. Tickets sell quickly for popular dates — especially the Polar Express — so book well in advance at pensacolawinterfest.org and make a full holiday evening of it with dinner at one of the downtown restaurants nearby.
