International Coastal Cleanup Day on South Walton’s Beaches

Every September, millions of volunteers in 100+ countries take to the world’s beaches and waterways for International Coastal Cleanup Day, and South Walton’s emerald shores are no exception. Organized locally through 30A and South Walton community groups, this annual event mobilizes visitors and locals alike to remove marine debris from the area’s stunning beaches, protecting the Gulf’s crystal-clear waters and the wildlife that depends on them.

No experience or equipment needed — volunteers receive gloves, bags, and data cards to log the types of debris collected (that data goes to a global ocean health database). Families with children are especially welcome; the cleanup is a meaningful way to connect kids with environmental stewardship while enjoying a morning on some of the most beautiful beaches in the country. Multiple beach access points across South Walton participate simultaneously.
