About this event

The Emerald Coast Big Game Fishing Club (ECBGFC) Youth Fishing Tournament brings out the next generation of offshore champions to the world's luckiest fishing village. Running July 26-28, 2026, this exciting competition is open to young anglers eager to prove their skills on the beautiful waters of the Destin harbor and beyond. The Captain's Meeting kicks off Friday evening at AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar — one of Destin's most iconic waterfront restaurants — before competitors head out for a day of deep-sea action.

Sunday's weigh-in at AJ's is the main event for spectators: crowds gather at the dockside scales to watch the catches come in, cheer for the young anglers, and witness which fish made the cut for awards. The tournament recognizes multiple species in multiple age categories, with special recognition for anglers 8 years and younger. It's a fantastic spectator event even if you're not competing — the excitement of the weigh-in and the energy along Destin's famous harbor make for a memorable afternoon.

Families vacationing in Destin with budding young fishermen will find this tournament a wonderful way to connect with Destin's deep fishing culture.
