Every November, the City of Destin transforms its iconic harbor boardwalk into a stage for the next generation of anglers. The Annual Pinfish Classic is a free, catch-and-release fishing tournament exclusively for children ages 14 and under, held at the famous dock behind AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar on Destin Harbor.
Kids bring their own rod and reel — the City supplies all the bait — and spend a brisk November morning competing for awards in three categories: largest pinfish, smallest pinfish, and most fish caught overall. With Destin's gorgeous emerald waters as the backdrop and charter boats rocking gently in the marina, it's the kind of morning that creates lifetime fishing memories.
The event is completely free and open to all children 14 and under, making it one of the most accessible and family-friendly activities on the fall Emerald Coast calendar. Show up before 7 AM to claim a good spot on the dock and settle in for a sunrise fishing session on one of Florida's most celebrated harbors.
