Have a budding engineer in the family? Construction Junction is the Emerald Coast's most unique free family event, giving kids the once-in-a-lifetime chance to climb aboard and get up close with real, massive construction equipment — from dump trucks and bulldozers to cranes and excavators. It runs Saturday, May 23 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Rigdon Center.

This hands-on event is designed to spark curiosity and wonder in young minds, letting them sit in the cab of machines they have only ever seen on construction sites or in picture books. Professional operators and friendly crew members guide kids safely through the experience, answering questions and explaining how the machines work. Parents get a blast out of it too — it is one of those events where the whole family is grinning from ear to ear.

With no admission fee and a central location just minutes from Destin and Fort Walton Beach, Construction Junction is a perfect activity for a beach vacation morning — kids burn energy, learn something cool, and have stories to tell for years. Pack sunscreen and arrive early to beat the line.
