Free art reception this Friday — local artists capture the bayous, marshes & coastal magic of the Emerald Coast.
May 22, 2026
18:00 – 20:00
17 First Street SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548

While everyone loves Destin's white sand beaches, the Emerald Coast holds a deeper beauty in its bayous, estuaries, and waterways — and that is exactly what the Bayou Bliss exhibition captures. On Friday, May 22, the Arts & Design Society of Fort Walton Beach opens this evocative new show with a free public reception from 6 to 8 PM.

Local and regional artists have turned their eyes toward the quieter side of the coast — the still water reflections, the golden light on marsh grass, the herons standing motionless in shallow bayous — and translated it into paintings, photography, and mixed media. The opening reception is the ideal time to meet the artists, hear the stories behind the work, and perhaps take home a piece of the Emerald Coast that no gift shop could ever offer.

The Arts & Design Society is located in downtown Fort Walton Beach, just minutes from Destin. Admission is free, making this a wonderful Friday evening option for art-minded visitors. The exhibition runs for several weeks after opening night, so even if you miss the reception, the show is worth a visit during your stay.
